Safety
The D.A. Collins Companies have a Sub-Zero Approach to Safety. Not only do
we exceed all safety guidelines set by regulatory agencies, but we are committed
to completing every job with zero accidents.
This sub-zero approach has earned us one of the lowest state-assigned experience
modification rates among our regional competitors. This keeps our insurance
costs down, which in turn allows us to provide you with a competitive cost
estimate for your project.
The heart of our safety program is a combination of:
planning, training and zero tolerance.
Planning
Even before we get in the field, D.A. Collins safety experts begin a
job safety analysis to review potential site hazards and evaluate the equipment
necessary to complete the job safely and efficiently.
Training
In every area, D.A. Collins exceeds OSHA standards for safety training. Every
employee is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment.
Eight hours of safety training are also required for every employee, every
year, despite the number of years on the job. Weekly and daily safety meetings
are conducted by project superintendents and foremen on all job sites.
At the completion of projects, an analysis of lessons learned is conducted
to communicate relevant issues to employees. This evaluation enables D.A.
Collins to avoid future injuries and damage by developing standard operating
safety procedures.
Our annual safety reviews are comprehensive and thorough, including an evaluation
of safety guidelines and protocols; an investigation of accidents and safety
incidents that have occurred in the industry; changes in facilities or operations
that could present new risks; and one-on-one task training.
Zero Tolerance
Once
in the field, project supervisors immediately address activities that could
result in a safety incident. Daily inspections of equipment and vehicles are
conducted to identify problems and prevent potential failures. Every employee
is encouraged to identify potential risks and raise concerns with supervisors.
