GILBOA-PRATTSVILLE ROAD RECONSTRUCTION AND CULVERT REPLACEMENTS

Project Objectives:
4.7-miles of two-lane (one in each direction) road reconstruction consisting of paving, full depth replacement areas, underdrain, improvements cross-culverts, guiderail and striping.
Scope of Work:
  • Re-profiled entire road which included over 100 cross-slope transitions
  • All work except for paving operations performed under single lane closures
  • Strict maintenance and protection of traffic provisions required that both lanes be open during non-working hours, and only one lane could be occupied for construction at a time.
  • Full depth roadwork and shoulder reconstruction included over 30,000 tons of subbase and 26,000 tons of asphalt
  • Installation of over 20,000 linear feet of underdrain
  • Re-established over 20,000 linear feet of swales/ditch line
  • Rip rap slope stabilization
  • Reconstruct / clean pipes and associated inlet / outlet basins
  • Extend pipe outfalls by retrofitting concrete collars
  • Rebuild / repair and reset existing stone headwalls
  • Reconstruct concrete headwalls
  • Rehabilitation and replacement of 53 culverts crossing under the existing roadway.
  • Existing concrete box culverts are in need of new inlet basin and raised headwalls, as well as outlet pipe extensions with plunge pools.
