Scope of Work:
¨ Site preparation at this high security facility included modification to the existing security fence, installation of silt fence along the shoreline, installation of 200’ of turbidity curtain at the waterfront, installation of 200’ dust barrier along the fence line, and protective sheeting on the adjacent building.
¨ The slurry wall was designed to cut off LNAPL that was migrating to the tidal bay adjacent to the work area. All work was performed in close proximately (less than 20’) to both an operational facility building, and the bay waterfront. The design included a cement-bentonite slurry wall approximately 220’ long by 20’ deep by 24” wide. Due to the trench depth and difficult working conditions, a specialized zero-swing excavator was utillzed.
¨ Trench spoils and other incidental wastes were transported to a facility stockpile and waste handling area for later disposition.
¨ Site restoration included the construction of a concrete slurry wall cap and removal of all temporary structures including the turbidity curtain, dust curtain, and other controls.
